THOUSANDS OF BUDDHISTS GATHER AT NICE PIK2, OFFER PRAYERS FOR INDONESIA’S PEACE AND PROSPERITY
January 23, 2026 – Nusantara International Convention Exhibition (NICE) PIK2 chose to host the major spiritual gathering "Indonesia for Peace & Prosperity" on Sunday, January 25, 2026. This occasion marks a rare gathering, with three Sakya lineage throne holders from around the world coming together to lead prayers for Indonesia’s stability.
Amid global economic challenges and waves of layoffs throughout 2025, some 4.500 Buddhists from the Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana traditions came together in prayer. The primary focus of the gathering was to seek economic recovery and to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Indonesia.
The event was particularly historic, attended in person by:
H.H. Kyabgon Gongma Sakya Trichen Rinpoche The 41st (aged 81).
H.H. Sakya Trizin The 42nd Ratna Vajra Rinpoche.
H.H. Sakya Trizin The 43rd Gyana Vajra Rinpoche.
During his visit, H.H. Kyabgon Gongma Sakya Trichen Rinpoche the 41st emphasized the importance of Indonesia. "Indonesia is a great nation and especially in terms of spirituality, it holds a very significant place. Through this event, may peace, harmony, and happiness be attained throughout the world," he said.
Meanwhile, H.H. Sakya Trizin the 42nd Ratna Vajra Rinpoche shared a message on practicing compassion. "We should also practice love and compassion, cultivating a kind heart toward others… In this way, we will be able to realize peace, harmony, and happiness," he said.
H.H. Sakya Trizin The 43rd Gyana Vajra Rinpoche added that Indonesia’s diversity is a source of strength. "Indonesia for Peace & Prosperity reflects the understanding that harmony is created when diversity meets wisdom… Diversity becomes a source of collective strength and shared prosperity," he explained.
As the building management, NICE expressed its honor in facilitating an event that strengthens interfaith and intercultural harmony. It is hoped that this collective prayer will help remove obstacles to national stability and plant the seeds of peace in the hearts of all citizens.
